If you are using the chart, the number of stitches to cast on should say 42, not 38.
I'm so enjoying seeing your results. Thanks for posting pictures.
I also got a question on the Garlic & Vines. If your technique varies from what is described, and it looks fine, that's totally okay. The point of all those crossed stitches is to make pieces that won't roll up like stockinette does; the actual technique used isn't too important (they have different looks, but if you're happy, I'm happy!).
Just so you know what to expect:
Keeping up is up to you; we'll be putting the Cannioterra together at Villa Maddalena, but if you are missing a piece, you can do it when you have time. Do the best you can! There is going to be some variation in size of pieces, which we can address when putting the pieces together.
Enjoy each piece. I've tried to keep this interesting and not all sections are terribly challenging. Farfalle is probably one the most challenging (although I thought it pretty satisfying!), so when you get through that one, breath a sigh of relief.
I have a lot going on right now--the tee, the Cannioterra, other patterns, teaching, designing, knitting, etc., so I have someone who is helping me all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This means that I don't have access to my computer for the entire day. Last night I left to run errands at 6:20 p.m. (taking Jennifer to the train on my way) and didn't get home until 8:45 p.m. so I didn't look at email from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until this morning about 7:30 a.m. I know it is frustrating, but you wouldn't believe how much this lets me get done!
