Linda asks: Hi, as we start counting down, I wondered if there is a general agenda or schedule for daily activities? Partially, I'm wondering what to pack, but also I want to get a good amount of exercise in each day to offset the Italian cooking (and drinking!).
So, Susan or Jill, can you sketch out a basic idea of how you see our days? Thanks!
There will be time to exercise because we need to do so too. You can walk/run/jog on the many roads in and around the village. There's a pool in the garden (hint: bring a swimsuit). When we were there in April, Jill and I enjoyed the walk to Castelmuzio, which is only about 3.5km, but lots of uphill. There are many roads to explore.
The daily schedule will look something like this, but varies a bit from day to day:
7 Coffee's on
8-10 Breakfast at your pace
10-12 Knitting workshop
1 Lunch
4-6 Knitting workshop
8 Dinner (this may seem late, but this is Italy!)
There will not be an afternoon workshop every day; there will be a morning workshop every day. Some other things are planned (2-3 local activities), but not yet scheduled. We're dealing with Italians, who don't seem to like to schedule anything! Everyone seems inclined to email that "we'll talk when you get here. . ." So begins our first lesson in the slow life, taking time to just enjoy the moment, not worrying too much about what's ahead.
As far as what to pack, we've put together a list but want to review it so it's complete. Look for that after Labor Day, when we begin our count down. We'll be sending out lots of information then.

I always pack too much--which I did again this past weekend. I'm really trying to figure out just how little I can bring. One of my rules is that I only take three pairs of shoes--wherever I'm going. This helps keep me to a plan and that way my suitcase isn't overfilled with shoes I won't end up needing. Now if I could just figure out a way to cut down on the lotions!
Thanks. This looks like a nice balance of individual and group activities. Since this is my main vacation this year, I'm planning on making the most of it!
I always pack too many knitting projects and books, mostly in my carry on. I dread running out of things to occupy me. I have to remember I can always buy books (though maybe not in Montisi, but we can trade).
