ES in contrasting color
Hi: I am assuming that when you use the contrasting color for the 4 ES stitches, you also do the 4 in between knit stitches in that same color. Is that correct?

That's what I did--the four k1 and the four ES. There's some loose ends to deal with in Tuscany! I look so forward to spending a week with you!
I did that too--but iI wonder if you did it with the knit stitches done in the MC if it would look different. Hmmmmmmmmm.
