Swirl and Garter Question

I appreciate having an easier piece that doesn't have cables! I cast on 70 (for the 3rd size), but the number of stitches in the setup row is 72. Should the cast on number be 72, or is there a mistake in the pattern for the setup row? I think the same question applies to all the sizes; they're all off by 2 stitches.
